What makes a business social media account successful?

There are certain traits that each successful business clearly has and it’s not the amount of followers they have or the amount of likes a picture gets. Although those two things play a big role, the amount of followers you have doesn’t truly make your account successful. One post could get thousands of likes, where all your other posts get a few hundred. A trending post does not define how successful your account truly is.


There are three main traits that all successful business social media accounts carry:

  1. A strict posting schedule

  2. Steady new follower growth rate

  3. Steady income of follower engagement


Mixing all three traits spells consistency. Having a constant posting schedule leads to a constant growth rate for new followers which leads to constant engagement from followers.


A strict posting schedule

When creating a posting schedule, take a look at the times within the day your page gets the most engagement from your followers. From there you could determine which times work best for you and your audience. Ideally, you would want to create posts everyday and at the same time each day. This will allow your followers to incorporate your account into their daily routines. Posting the same time each day allows them to expect something that day, look forward to it and search for the post. 


Steady new follower growth rate

Everyone could have a big number of followers. Nowadays, there are ways for companies to buy followers. So the amount of followers does not determine whether your account is successful or not. But, if you are constantly getting new followers, clearly your account is successful. A steady growth rate tells you that your posts are reaching people other than your existing followers. When a post reaches a potential consumer, someone who is not following you, it gives your post an opportunity to make an impression. If interested, these potential consumers will then click on your page, explore and if they like what they see, follow you. Having a steady growth rate ensures new followers by constantly having something that has the potential to reach users beyond the ones that follow you.


Steady income of follower engagement

The engagement from your followers are types of feedback. Likes, comments and shares are able to tell you if what you are doing is working. The more likes, comments and shares you receive, the more others are encouraged to do the same, essentially giving you more and more. Although receiving follower engagement is great, you must engage with your followers as well. Engagements give you an opportunity to create relationships with your followers. When you engage with your followers, it is like giving them great customer service. It also tells your followers that you care and appreciate them. 


Essentially, creating a schedule is the foundation towards a successful business social media account. But it is easier said than done. If you are able to keep up with your schedule, your steady growth of new followers and income of follower engagement is sure to come.
