Kerry Tokoro
Hawaii shaper Jason Kashiwai develops high quality boards with the best craftsmanship. Since 1991, his work has been influenced by Edo Ogawa of Dropout Surfboards, Daikai Inspire Surfboards, Wes Oshiro, Glen Pang, Wade and Kerry Tokoro, Gabe Garduque, and Glenn Minami. Kashiwai’s high performance shapes have been tested all over the world by his various team riders. At the age of 15, he was introduced to surfing by his brother, Wade. Soon after, Kerry began surfing the shore breaks of Waimanalo and Kailua. He gradually worked his way to surfing the reefs on the Windward side, South Shore and finally, the North Shore of O’ahu. Eventually, Kerry got into shaping and building boards – a craft that stemmed from his passion for riding waves and his love for creating things with his hands. From this passion and skill, Kerry and Wade formed Fluid Designs.
In 1987, Kerry started working as a production laminator at Bows Products, the HIC Surfboard Factory. Shortly after, he found himself shaping full time and building boards for some of the HIC team riders, including local professional surfer, Ronnie Yamada.
