Since 1991, his work has been influenced by Edo Ogawa of Dropout Surfboards, Daikai Inspire Surfboards, Wes Oshiro, Glen Pang, Wade and Kerry Tokoro, Gabe Garduque, and Glenn Minami. Kashiwai’s high performance shapes have been tested all over the world by his various team riders. The Kashiwai team consists of Mike Dodd, Jason Shibata, Kylen Yamakawa, Stephen Koehne, Numajiri, Jun Jo, Kento Takahashi, Mike Smith, Charlie Akao, and Robert Griloh, III.
